All entries MUST enhance their entries with lights…this is a lighted parade.
NO LIVE SANTAS. The "real" Santa will ride in at the anchor of the parade.
Music is encouraged. It will add to the viewer's experience.
Floats and trailer entries will need to meet at Linda Anderson Parking Lot at 3:00 pm for staging and will then be escorted downtown to line up along the streets. (This is for floats and trailers only, no riders. All other non-float/non-trailer entries need to be downtown no later than 5:15 pm. )
For safety reasons, for those identified to stage at Linda Anderson, if you do not check-in at Linda Anderson or miss the police escort, your entry will be moved to the end of the line-up
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
Float riders should be loaded onto the floats by 5:30 pm. Please remind your participants that they should allow time to park and walk to their assigned float. The parade will start at 6:00 pm.
Drivers should keep a half-block between them and the next entry. Large gaps make it boring for watchers. When floats are too close together, it makes it difficult for judges and announcers.
Judges and a parade announcer will be located at the Main Street entrance to the courthouse. An announcer will also be at the gazebo on Alamo Street.
Please, no throwing candy from floats. We do, however, encourage walking along the sides of floats and giving out candy and toys!
There will be a designated unloading area at the end of the parade with volunteers to assist. Drivers must stay in the vehicles so that they can quickly move once the float is completely unloaded.
Participants should unload on the sidewalk side of the float. DO NOT have parents and children meeting in the middle of the street. **
Once participants are unloaded, drivers should relocate. Do not disassemble floats in the unloading area.
HAVE FUN. This event is a great event to kick off the Christmas season for our community. Let's help everyone get into the Christmas spirit!
There will not be a rainout date. Rainout information can be found at www.cityofbrenham.org or by calling 979-337-7233.
** First Baptist School and St. Paul’s CDS will be given special instructions for unloading due to the large number of children riding their floats. **
